SanFam products regularly undergo stringent quality control and only very seldom the malfunctioning
of the compressor has to be ascribed to the filter itself. Here below are listed some of the most common causes which may lead to an improper functioning of
the machine.
¢ñ . Precautions for installation
1 . Place the gaskets properly, antistatic measurements should be fitted and the oil-proof gaskets need to work normally at the high temperature of 120¡æ.
2 . Separator installed erectly with compressed air flows from outside to inside, the scavenge tube
should be long enough to be straight laid inside the separator and reach to the concavity of the
bottoms.
3 . Use high quality lubricant. Don¡¯t mix any impurities into the lubricant system and the lubricant
should be replaced completely at a regular period.
4 . Spin on air/oil separator installed erectly, the scavenge tube should be laid down to the bottom
of the separator.
¢ò . Pressure drop rises too fast
The pressure drop is mainly caused by the solid particles in compressed air, which intercepted by
the media of separator and detained on the media.
1 . The air filter and oil filter used in compressors have lifespan and need to be replaced regularly.
Don¡¯t use the air filter and oil filter with low quality.
2 . Higher compressor working temperature or low quality lubricant relates to age and oxidate the oil
and forms oil particles, which block and pollute the separator, and the pressure drop rises.
3 . Regularly drain the tank, or the separator may be rusted.
¢ó. Excessive use of oil
1 . Blocked or malfunctioning of scavenge tube causes oil accumulated in the separator and the oil is taken out by compressed air with considerable amount.
2 . Incorrect oil level in tank. Oil over filling alters the pre-separation process and increases the
amount of oil in the air/oil mist thereby the separation efficiency is reduced.
3 . Unreasonable design of oil tank. Short diameter of oil tank or inefficient mechanical separation
structure.
4 . The separator is not suitable for the machine, which results an inefficient separation.
5 . Gaskets are out of place or use of unsuitable or used gaskets, which can cause the oil leak.
6 . Compressor working at lower pressure increases the flow rate and reduces the separation
efficiency.
7 . Compressor working at higher temperature speeds up the evaporation of oil and increases the
thickness of air/oil mist in separator.
8 . The separator has reached the end of its lifespan or has worked in arduous conditions and is
not replaced.
